Clariant CleanTech Award Switzerland
Clariant, the Swiss Chemical Society and the University of Basel are partnering to award the Clariant CleanTech Award Switzerland and offer four lecture slots at the »Clariant Chemistry Day, University of Basel« on October 4, 2018. The Clariant CleanTech Award Switzerland is endowed with a total of 10’000 CHF. The first prize is endowed with 5’000 CHF.
- The first prize is is given to Dr.Ydna Marie Questell-Santiago from EPFL Lausanne for her research on "New routes toward biomass-derived carbohydrates upgrading".
Clariant, the University of Basel and the Swiss Chemical Society like to sincere congratulate Edna for her fantastic contribution but like to highlight also the outstanding projects of the runners-up:
- The second price goes to Dr. Amita Ummadisingu, EPFL Lausanne for her project on "Fundamentals of perovskite formation for photovoltaics".
- The third prize goes to Mr. Erwin Lam, ETH Zurich for his research on "Isolated Zr Surface Sites on Silica Promote Hydrogenation of CO2 to CH3OH in Supported Cu Catalysts"
- The forth prize goes to Dr. Jan-Georg Rosenboom and Dr. Peter Fleckenstein, ETH Zurich for their project on "Lord of the Renewable Rings - The Journey towards Rapid Production of Polyethylene Furanoate (PEF) from Cyclic Oligomers"

Clariant Chemistry Award at the University of Basel
Clariant and the University of Basel jointly award the “Clariant Chemistry Award at the University of Basel” and offer a lecture slot at the »Clariant Chemistry Day, University of Basel« on October 4, 2018. The “Clariant Chemistry Award at the University of Basel” is endowed with 1'000 CHF.
The prize was given to Mr. Rajesh, Mannancherry, University of Basel, for his work on "Molecular Dynamic Staircases: All-Carbon Axial Chiral “Geländer” Structures"

For Participation
The Clariant CleanTech Award Switzerland is available to successful Master students, PhD students, and Postdocs who have distinguished themselves with outstanding scientific achievements at the Departments of Chemistry and adjacent disciplines of Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences and Institutes in Switzerland in areas of Sustainable Chemistry such as resource efficiency, renewable energy, renewable raw materials or green technologies and environmental protection.
Master students, PhD students, and Postdocs will be considered with regard to their different levels of training.
The total prize sum is CHF 10'000 for the best four applications whereof the winner gets CHF 5'000.
Applicants are requested to submit one file including
- their curriculum vitae,
- a brief description of the scientific results (max. 5 pages), and
- an expert assessment from a supervisor
by August 24, 2018. => Deadline is over.
The candidates of the best four dossiers are invited to present their work as an oral presentation at the Clariant Chemistry Day (15min). Based on the presentation, the jury decides about the winner and the runners-up. The jury members are Prof. Marcel Mayor, Prof. Edwin Constable, Dr. Martin Vollmer, Dr. Thomas Volkmer, Dr. Alain De Mesmaeker, Prof. Peter Chen and Prof. Karl Gademann.
All candidates are also invited to present their project as a poster.

Clariant and the University of Basel jointly award the “Clariant Chemistry Award at the University of Basel” and offer a lecture slot at the »Clariant Chemistry Day, University of Basel« on October 4, 2018. The “Clariant Chemistry Award at the University of Basel” is endowed with 1'000 CHF.
This award program will honor an outstanding scientific achievement of a student at the University of Basel in Chemistry. Master students, PhD students, and Postdocs are encouraged to apply.
Applicants are requested to submit one file including
- their curriculum vitae,
- a brief description of the scientific results (max. 5 pages), and
- an expert assessment from a supervisor
by August 24, 2018. => Deadline is over.
The winner will be invited to give a talk of 15min at the Clariant Chemistry Day.
All candidates are also invited to present their project as a poster.
Clariant Chemistry Day Poster Award
A poster session will allow participants to share information and exciting new results in the field of CleanTech and sustainable chemistry. All presented posters will automatically be considered for the award. The »Clariant Chemistry Day Poster Award« is endowed with 500.00 CHF.

The main criteria for the award is the visual presentation of the project. The jury members are Prof. Marcel Mayor, Dr. Thomas Volkmer and Prof. Karl Gademann.
